ACORN

 POLITICAL ACTION

COMMITTEE ENDORSES

JOHN KOWALKO

The ACORN Political Action Committee (APAC) today announced its support to John Kowalko in his campaign to unseat incumbent Stephanie Ulbrich for election to the twenty-fifth house district of the Delaware State General Assembly.

“As a member of ACORN, I am flattered and honored to receive the endorsement of APAC. It validates my efforts to serve the communities we represent: those most in need, and those most vulnerable. When elected I will intensify my efforts to make Delaware and affordable state for everyone” said Kowalko

“We have worked with John and know first hand his love the community. He is trust worthy, well educated on the issues, dependable, hard working and loves being of service to the people. He will make an excellent addition to Dover and we encourage all those who want to make Delaware a better place to live to go out and vote for John Kowalko on Nov. 7th.” Said APAC member Angela Walker

Mr. Kolwoko, an ACORN member since 200?, was independently interviewed by ACORN Political Action Committee members to secure his endorsement. He has expressed his commitment to address a number of issues of concern to low and middle income Delawareans

·         Government enforced “lead free” certification requirement before property can be sold or leased.

·         Legislation to provide for severe punishment for predatory lenders

·         The re-regulation of Del Marva Power and Electric.

·         Sunday bus service, to provide working Delawareans a means to get to work every day they need to

·         Legislation to assure that affordable housing is made available, statewide

ACORN is the nation's largest community organization of low- and moderate-income families, with over 175,000 member families organized into 850 neighborhood chapters in 75 cities across the U.S. and in cities in Canada, the Dominican Republic and Peru. Our priorities include: better housing for first time homebuyers and tenants, living wages for low-wage workers, more investment in our communities from banks and governments, and better public schools. We achieve our goals by building community organizations that have the power to win changes -- through direct action, negotiation, legislation, and voter participation.  ACORN is an acronym, and each letter should be capitalized.  ACORN stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.  ACORN's website is at http://www.acorn.org.
